Hey Now, This is America, man got everyright to take care of his family. Greed is not in the GD vocabulary.
It's like Willie Nelson once said" If you want to dance you got to pay the band" The Grateful Dead have been very generous over 40 years. They could have stayed around home instead of bringing us the Music all over the world. Hell, some of them died for Deadheads. Hell, you live in NYC, a modern day Babylon. It's their music they never let me down. Never saw a bad show. All these Internet Archives shows proves they gave there best damn near everynight. Greed, Man your tripping or just insane!
All you gather, just one thing you can loose" One Love

Or as Bobby once put it, "If you want something for nothing, [motion used to start a lawnmower] off!"

Does that pass, Diana? :-)

Forum: etree Subject: What would Jerry Say?

Hey Now, I'm still trying to figure this all out. People all upset,"I'll never buy another shirt," bullshit. I got to thinking What would Jerry Say? Well, I recall a story I think from Dick Latvala.

The band was playing in SF and in the audience was a guy who kept screaming "St. Stephen" "St Stephen".
Jerry walked up to the mike and said, "It a great song, we played it last night, might play it tomorrow night, but we not gonna play it tonight". After the show a guy waited by the stage door to talk to Jerry. He was nervous, going over what he wanted to say about Jerry's sarcasm to this loud St. Stephen fan". Jerry came outside, the guy approached and started his little speech; " I've been with the band a long time,,,,,and you should'nt have been so rough." Jerry stopped him right after the "been with the band along time" part. Jerry smiled, patted this guy on the back and said" I been with the band longer" and jumped in VW microbus and drove off . I think we all should calm down, Bobby & Phil are both out on the road playing wonderful shows. I'm saying the bandmembers and fans are enjoying themselves and the music. Fans are still taping. For along time all these SBTapes were available. So what really is the big problem, seems like nothing to me. The Grateful Dead Family still the best artists, musicians, and people you might evercome to meet. I Know I enjoyed Ratdog last month more than ever> so cool this negative vibe.Everything gonna be alright!

Simply bizarre.

Maybe "the Boys" should just charge $1000 a ticket to go see their shows.

After all, the tickets used to be relatively cheap and they probably could have charged a lot more -- but they didn't.

And we all had such a good time. And Mickey Hart needs a new pair of Birkenstocks.

So let's stop complaining.

Ad nauseum.

sounds exactly like what Bobby would say - greed!
I give away plenty - as a matter of fact i volunteer all my time at a homeless shelter.
I will have some free time time coming up soon - If you want me to do some free work for you let me know- I give away freely
And to the GD - If you are having to lay off workers, having cash flow problems and need someone to work for you - I Volunteer Freely expecting nothing in return- not even your precious SBDs

Quote the Rastman : "Hey Now, This is America, man got everyright to take care of his family." I have couple questions, Is there any member of the GDM family starving ??? Is there any member of the GDM family living in Skid Row in a cardboard box ??

"Greed is not in the GD vocabulary. " Then why were the downloadable soundboards taking OFF this websites. The fans still have not heard any explanations of this shocking actions. The fans are still in the dark.

Hey now, I know a few old deadheads living on the street. And some band members in pine boxes or golden urns. These downloads have been available for long time. Why can't the Dead protect their own legacy.
I don't know all the details of these recent developments. I am just annoyed at these people who think the band owes them this stuff. They are professional musicians who deserve to control their own creations. The fact that Ratdog, Phil, Mickey and Billy are still creating and playing is good enough for me. They sure don't have too. I say wait and see. The Dead always come though for us loyal fans.
You ought to bid on Jerry's toilet so you can flush your selfish silly idea's!
